A moon branded by a millennium of stardust The sun's beams, purged of all vitality cannot erase the frozen scars No rain, no waves to cleanse No breeze to make amends...
So begins the book Callisto, a short collection of fourteen poems. I think we all have felt bombarded at times: by relationships gone awry, job frustration, health issues. Callisto was written in the midst of a mental health crisis and reflects my mood during that turbulent time. The poem Memories looks back at my idyllic childhood years. The poem Immortality paints images of depression and references the Holocaust. Guardian Angel is inspired by all the angels in my life, both spiritual and human, who have helped me safely navigate my depression. While the poems are rather dark, I think the poem Phantom sums up their purpose
